Having a member of the teaching staff who has been supportive and inspiring during your time at Solent can make a huge difference to your time at University. Your Union wants to help you celebrate and thank Solent staff that have gone the extra mile for their students.

We asked you to nominate the people who have made a difference to your studies in our Star Awards 2018 and have been blown away by your response. It is brilliant to hear you want to celebrate so many Solent staff. These staff members are being recognised by students for their outstanding contribution to their journey at Solent University. So here is the much coveted shortlist:

Outstanding Teaching

This award will be given to an exceptional member of academic staff that has demonstrated a real passion for delivering motivational, challenging and exciting content.

Excellent Academic Support

This award will be given to a member of staff who has provided excellent academic guidance to students, including support with essay writing, research and other academic-related skills.

Best Academic Supervisor

This award will be given to a member of academic staff that has gone beyond their normal duties to support a student through a dissertation or major project. They should help the student plan and manage their time effectively whilst offering guidance and feedback whenever necessary.

Most Innovative Teaching

This award will be given to a member of academic staff that offered a range of teaching methods and resources, proactively ensuring that classes are both engaging and a refreshing approach to learning.

This award will be given to a member of academic staff that offered a range of teaching methods and resources, proactively ensuring that classes are both engaging and a refreshing approach to learning.

Student Voice Champion

This award will be given to a member of staff that has demonstrated a commitment to engaging with course reps, encouraging students to raise concerns and providing updates on issues raised.

Exceptional Student Development

This award will be given to a member of staff that has helped students develop personal and transferable skills, whilst assisting students in getting work experience placements and links to the professional industry.

Exceptional Student Experience (Tim Coppins Award)

This award will be given to a member of staff that has shown dedication to supporting students in non-academic extracurricular activities.

The shortlisted staff and the students who nominated them are invited to celebrate at an exclusive awards ceremony on 4th May in the Whitebeam, The Spark at 12.00. You can register your attendance to this event HERE.
