What is the Solent Student Life Survey?
Solent Students' Union is launching a new flagship survey and report, called the 'Solent Student Life Survey', which will occur annually in the spring. The survey focuses on around 50 factors of student life, like teaching, facilities, social life, safety, career prospects, students' union, etc.
Here at the SU, understanding student's needs and how we can best help them is our first priority. Therefore, the survey is spilt into two phases to help us address two important areas.
We want to understand:
1. How important something is to students
2. How satisfied they are with it
When is the survey open?
For the academic year 23/24 we are starting earlier as to ensure we get to hear as many of your opinions as possible! Phase 1 will start on 18th September and will be open until mid October!
Any Incentivies?
We value your opinion so much, so by completing this survey you will be entered into a draw to win one of 5 Amazon vouchers worth £10, plus loads more fun prizes that are yet to be announced!
Where can I find the surveys?

What will the SU do with my answers?
Once both survey phases have been completed, the SU will compare the results from each survey against eachother. This will give us what we are calling the 'satisfaction gap'. This is reference to the gap between how important a particular topic is to students (how satisifed you'd like to be) versus how satifisfied you are actually are about that particular topic.
Based on the findings of the survey, each year the SU will write a report based on the findings. This will be made avaliable to both students and staff at the university. The findings used from the survey will then help us to understand how we should inform our SU strategy and priorities.
