Clarity and Communication Affects Education
“Clarity and Communication Affects Education”
I will improve communication in order to emphasise the power of academic course representatives. This emphasis is essential because the platform needs to be recognised in order to be benefited from. Names of academic representatives should be on the university website and in other university marketing materials in course order.
To guide academic representatives, I will personally visit during class and/or at the very least, make myself known via email and offering personal office time. I propose that more formalised documents on issues discussed and to be discussed should be sent via email in the form of minute’s documents. This involves me being in contact with lecturers and other members of staff who attended the academic representative meetings to monitor, be aware and be involved in this. A list of staff references should be sent to academic representatives facilitating the goal of communication and clarity.
In my spare time I perform at music gigs, play games and watch cinema. This is nothing to be ashamed of. Hobbies and relaxing sometimes is good for mental health and develops social skills which is excellent for your CV and for your lifetime. I would therefore support the social scene such as the Sonar Film screenings for mental health charities and the current idea in the works of having free to play pianos around campus. This should improve the happiness, health and therefore the educational improvement of students.
My degree in MSc Project Management directly serves me because I can use the appropriate document styles I learned, human skills and budgeting advice I was taught. I am a current academic representative, and I was also a course representative for 2 years at University of Southampton where I did a degree in Philosophy and Anthropology. Having a massive variance of course representative experience in different courses has given me more understanding in terms of what I think is best practice whilst not narrowing down too far.
I did a marketing and events internship, I was the UoS president of the Filipino society, a peer mentor and student interviewer. These experiences made me love working in higher education and would help the responsibility of working closely with the Chief Executive on academic issues including the National Student Survey (NSS) because I did plenty of student surveying interactively with University students and I have been in an office environment processing student data.
