Talk, listen, be there, feel connected.
I'm Teodor Mitsev, a current Film and Television first year student. The wellbeing of every student at any institution is vitally important. Providing the fact that I have 5 years of experience as a volunteer and Psychological First Aid and Psychosocial Support instructor in the Red Cross I am ready to ensure quality and safety of your physical and mental environment. As I already spent one year at this university I'm well aware of it's potential and willingness to help so I am ready to put effort now in order to provide a strategy suitable for all your needs. I believe in the power of positivity and integrity so those will be my main principles, while exercising this position.
My ideas:
Whatever it takes...
- I'll works towards reducing late exam due dates, seeing that they put too much pressure on every student and especially the international ones. Nobody likes to think about exams right before Christmas, and considering the students dealing with flight tickets and cultural and religious celebrations, the pressure levels are even higher.
- At least monthly, workshops will be carried out discussing and presenting coping strategies about different topics such as sleep; stress and anxiety; work and life balance etc.
- Different means of assessments should be available for any student (if the chosen course allows), so everyone can express themselves the best way possible. I strongly believe that this will lead to more motivated students and higher marks achieved.
- Increasing the types of therapy provided in the university by accessing
-Dog therapy as it's proven to increase focus and attention and it also reduces the levels of anxiety, grief and isolation.
- Couple therapy, as many students are struggling coping with issues, affecting their relationships, which often leads to problematic changes in their behaviour, affecting their university life.
- Psychological and general first aid workshops and trainings should be available for the university staff and students several times per year.
- As I'm aware of the conception of our current sabbatical officer, I will continue putting a lot of effort towards providing healthy and more affordable food options on campus.
- Your physical state and mental health are closely related so having the opportunity to attend regular gym sessions while enjoying an affordable price is important as well.
