Union President - Communities and Wellbeing

Sanidhya Shetty represents the collective community and wellbeing of all Southampton Solent students. She takes a leading role in the development of health, wellbeing, equality and diversity initiatives, student group activities, physical wellbeing, volunteering, and fundraising.

Sanidhya Shetty

Sanidhya Shetty is now in her second term of being a Sabbatical Officer, representing the community and wellbeing of Southampton Solent Students.

My name is Sanidhya Shetty, and I am the President of Communities and Wellbeing at Solent Students' Union.

I've completed my graduation with two degrees, one in Information Technology Engineering and another in Popular Music Performance and Production.

I am originally from Mumbai, India, and I am now based in Southampton.

My favourite places in the city are the Hollywood Bowl, Westquay, and the city centre, as I love gaming and exploring new food spots, being a big foodie myself.

In my role, I am passionate about supporting student wellbeing, building inclusive communities, and ensuring every student feels heard and represented.

For me, representing students means putting their mental health and wellbeing first, creating a safe and supportive environment, and advocating for a better student experience.

I’m especially excited to work on organising more liberation and wellbeing events, lobbying for dedicated student spaces, and collaborating closely with societies, which are a vital part of student life.

My top tip for making the most of the Students’ Union is to take full advantage of the many free resources available, from wellbeing and academic support to the SU Exchange, and to stay in regular contact with your Sabbatical Officers so we can understand and act on what matters most to you.

You can contact me at sanidhya.shetty@solent.ac.uk or come find me in the office!
