Staying Safe around the City

Studying at Solent is great, and we love seeing how amazing all the activities you guys get up to outside of timetabled teaching are! We just wanted to remind you about all the ways you can ensure you stay safe in the city while still having all the fun you want.

Here’s a quick reminder of the advice from the SU & University on staying safe in the city:

· Take a mate when you’re walking home from campus or a night out.

· Keep your cash in your pocket or bag out of sight, and your phone, too.

· Stick to brightly lit streets and steer clear of shortcuts through parks in the evenings.

· Make use of the Students’ Union Night Bus service - follow @SolentSU on Twitter for more info.

· Get a taxi instead of walking – book with Radio Taxis, Solent SU’s official taxi partner, by calling 023 8066 6666, or sign up to the Safe Taxi Scheme here

· Call the police if you’re worried you’re being followed. If there’s an ongoing problem, speak to your local community support officer.

Most of all, just remember we’re here if you need any support, if you have any concerns or want advice, you can get in touch with Hanna, our VP Welfare & Community via twitter, @SolentWelfare, or email: su.welfare@solent.ac.uk
