Hello, my name is Marko, I am one of your new sabbatical officers, and my role is VP Education. As part of my role with the Students’ Union, I am entitled to look after the Course Rep System as well as to maintain the academic engagements on behalf of the Students’ Union within the university. I believe that Education quality is one of the main reasons for students to choose to study at Southampton Solent University, therefore I am proud to be the Sabbatical Officer that deals with education issues, and represents academic affairs.
I was born in China, although I have been living in the UK since secondary school. I am a research student in Contemporary Art. I have spent 7 years in Higher Education and have attended three different universities in the UK. I have not just studied in undergraduate level but have also progressed my studentship at Postgraduate and Research level. Before I came to Solent for my Research Degrees, I studied Animation at Bradford University and Graphic Design at the University of Southampton. With these academic experiences in mind, I feel I am appropriately equipped for this role, and the terms and consequences relating to Education matters that I could be involved in.
Outside my work and studies I am very passionate about travelling, and I do not mind being a solo tourist. I have travelled to Morocco, Turkey and Serbia, all on my own! My other big interests are Paintings and Cuisines. For me, they are artworks of different formats. I have won two national medals of paintings in China before I moved abroad. On the topic of investigating the culinary art, I have been to almost all of the restaurants in Southampton, and I have always been an experimentalist practitioner in the kitchen.
