We understand that the current situation raises a number of questions and concerns around your studies. Many of the key questions are answered on the University website here; but we wanted to highlight and answer the ones that we're being asked most frequently.

 

IS THE UNIVERSITY OPEN?

The University is fully working remotely from Friday 20 March, initially until 20 April 2020. There will be no teaching or assessment activity for the remainder of this academic year that will require students to be on campus or submit manually.

From 5pm, Friday 20 March:

Sir John Everett Milllais (JM), Herbert Collins and Below Bar will be closed.  

The library will be closed, although resources, support and advice will remain available online.

The Student Hub and Solent Futures will be closed, with all support and advice services moving fully online. Please contact student.hub@solent.ac.uk or solent.futures@solent.ac.uk.
All short courses in Warsash, Timsbury and EPT are to be suspended.

Adobe Creative Cloud Access

As a result of campus closure, Adobe has provided temporary at-home access for impacted students and staff, so you can continue your work remotely.
Please follow the instructions below to enable access to Creative Cloud Desktop Apps on your personal device:

Visit https://creativecloud.adobe.com and use your school credentials to sign in.
If prompted, select Company or School Account and then enter your password. Or provide your credentials in your school’s login screen.
From the Creative Cloud website, browse for and download your desired app. Click Apps on the top of the page to view all apps.

ARE SPECIALIST FACILITIES OPEN?

Please check the University website? for the latest on campus access as this is regularly being reviewed.

HOW ARE DEADLINES AND ASSESSMENTS AFFECTED?

All assessments are getting an extension and new dates will be available on SOL by Wednesday 25th or earlier where possible. Assessments are also being changed to ensure students can complete them remotely.
If you have any additional concerns speak to your course team in the first instance.

HOW IS GRADUATION AFFECTED?

All final years will receive their final results early September and graduate as normal however the ceremony will be postponed to a later date. Don't worry, you won't miss out on a ceremony

HOW ARE HALLS OF RESIDENCE AFFECTED?

All University run halls remain open and fully operational, with extra support being provided for students where possible.The University will not be collecting the final halls payment due on 30th of April.
This only applies to University run accommodation.

All of the information we have regarding final halls payments can be found here and is being updated as and when we have further information. Please rest assured that we are in conversation with Private Halls Providers across Southampton, to encourage them to take the lead set by the University.

if you are in a private house you need to speak to your landlord.

HOW ARE OUR STUDENT LOANS AFFECTED?

SLC have confirmed that students will recieve their student loan payments as expected. You can find more information here.
