As part of this year's AGM (which you can find more about here), some students who attended, asked to find out why External Trustees were sometimes not able to make the AGM and other SU events. We have received a response from one of our External Trustees and wanted to share it with you:
'External Trustees are volunteers, and as trustees of the student union, it is duties relating to the trustee board that have to be our main focus. The workload and time requirements associated with attending and supporting the trustee board are fairly demanding for a volunteer role. We all have full-time jobs and domestic responsibilities, and whilst in an ideal world we would like to attend events such as the AGM, this is, in reality, unlikely to be possible because of the amount of time we already put into our role as charity trustees.
We do listen to feedback from students, via the elected sabbatical officers and by reviewing minutes of Student Council. Student Trustees are one of the key ways in which we are able to receive feedback from students, and I urge students to apply for student trustee positions whenever vacancies are advertised.'
Remeber if you have any questions about this issue, or other affecting your SU, you can contact your Sabbatical Officers, or contact us via email@example.com
