Main Manifesto
Hello everyone,
My name is Samantha Miller and I am currently in my last year of the LLB.
I am running for this role because I believe in my time at Solent, I have learnt and gone through a mentally, emotionally and physical. I believe this experience will help me in working together with you to ensure that you time at Solent is a healthy, safe and happy one.
I want to work closely with the student hub and student first to make sure that all services available and offered are easily accessible to student. As your officer I would like to make these services well known around the university and let the students know that we are here for them for any problems.
I want to work together with the university to provide a safe environment for everyone who comes through the doors of Solent. I will lobby the housing association to increase the list of accredited landlords and agents and increase the tenants’ rights workshops across campus and drop in sessions.
I was us to be proud of the university’s commitment to admit everyone, but I also want to find out about drop outs rates and what can be done to assist those who come to the conclusion that dropping out is the only way.
As a student at Solent, I did not take advantage of all the things that S.U. offered and it only became more visible too late. I don’t want that to happen to other students.
I am able to consolidate thought and I can set directions and facilitate events so as to make everyone’s time at Solent a unique one. I want everyone who comes through Solent doors to feel comfortable to reach out when they need help or assistance.
I want everyone to know that myself and fellow officers are here for every single one of them. As your welfare officer, I will strive to ensure that the union looks after its most vulnerable students and ensure that the university is aware tat it is the students, staff and the local community that are the heart of everything we do.
