Main Manifesto

My idea of a well university is one that is globally connected, peacefully where everybody gets along and feels at home, that is why with my determination I would pledge to encourage Solent University to Divest from any Fossil Fuel industry ties it has. This university would feel much happier if it had more environmental intent and was more engaged in projects such as clean energy. As far as caring for the students and undertaking all of the tasks this role would push at me- I'd give it a good shot!

Questions & Answers

1. How would you help build a community of students at Solent University?

I have intent to in this role, encourage and oversee the introduction of some new societies, make sure that all the student ambassadors (and students *through song :p) are unified to help spread the uplifting message of successful studying together.

2. What types of events for students would you like to see on campus?

I have to admit, encouraging political conversation would be on my list, not only this but environmental, social and educational programmes that were backed by a body of people and had lots of representatives sought out for seminars and so on.

3. What improvements would you push for catering facilities on campus?

I think it is fair to say - there is a mixed perspective of what people want on campus, I think I would encourage some kind of student cafe which was run by students, cooked local/affordable ingredients up and served a decent cider or something up for when things are just too much.

4. How would you make the university and Students’ Union more inclusive?

I think there needs to be more inclusion of first year students in the discussion of inclusion and so on- very often they are dismissed as less interesting in discussing the overall ethos of what is supposed to be a free space for everyone. Maybe - with a first year Solent SU survey.
