Hi there, my name is Robin Tate-Davison, my pronouns are He/Him. I am a trans man in my first year of Digital arts at Solent, and I am standing for the role of trans+ officer because I want to help trans individuals in our university feel like they belong. The UK is unfortunately becoming more of a hostile environment, and I want to make sure my trans siblings feel like they have a safe and comfortable place to express themselves in their time at Solent.
As a candidate for trans officer, I aim to make a friendlier and more accepting environment for trans students and give them a non-judgemental ear to listen to any concerns that they may have, and help solve them with the university.
I also intend to increase the amount of gender-neutral bathrooms to the university and adding sanitary products and bins in all bathrooms.
As well as this I will endeavour to give you opportunities to inform me of what I can do to improve your experience – because you know best what you want to change.
To deliver upon these aims I will use my past experience as an elected member of my secondary school council for 3 years, learning to listen to concerns that occur and solve student issues.
alongside this, I’ve been a part of the LGBTQ+ community for 5 years, learning and campaigning alongside our queer siblings, attending trans right marches and pride events to raise awareness.
I would be honoured to represent Solent’s transgender students during the coming year and to be given the opportunity to make a positive impact on our university experience.
