Fighting for Equal Opportunities and Experiences!

Who am I?

Hello! My name is Erin and I am currently studying International Travel and Tourism Management. I enjoy reading sci-fi and fiction books, binge-watching series on Netflix and enjoying a drink (or two or three) at a bar!

Why vote for me?

Being the first person in my family to attend university, and growing up in an area that had a very low number of graduates, I always imagined that university was for the elite! I could not have been more wrong, and now I am passionate about ensuring that there are equal opportunities and support for those students coming from a similiar background as myself.

I am extremelly organised with good time keeping skills. I am president of the Travel and Tourism Society, as well as Course Representative, so I am familiar with representing students and have experience with leadership roles. I do not have any problems in voicing the opinions of myself and my peers, and am very comfortable in standing up for what I think is right.

What will I do?

I plan on representing all members of the university, regardless of social class or income. I will do this by:

  • Opening a 'student lounge' for those students who commute into university! They will have a place to relax and unwind, allowing them to participate in extra-curicular activities rather than scooting off towards home.
  • Ensuring that bursary and scholarship information is clear and available to all students.
  • Improving the Course Representative scheme by including incentives and enticing more students to consider these roles.
  • Representing the student body at open days and prospective student events to ensure that no student is discouraged from attending university due to financial issues.
  • Working with the Student Union to ensure all SU events are affordable and within the budgets of most students.
  • Being regularly available, in person and over teams/email, to deal with any social problems that students bring to my attention. I like to think I am friendly and approachable and can offer a kind, listening ear.

But, most importantly, I will be represting YOU... so I will work towards whatever you feel is important!

Thank you for your time :)
