I’m vishva Patel and running to continue my position at international Non-EU students wellbeing. I’m first year international student from India, currently I’m studying MSC PROJECT MANAGEMENT in Solent university.

I am excited to be running for this position because, being interested in community psychology, I want to make sure students feel supported and welcomed as a part of a whole community instead of feeling isolated, which can lead to a state of ill-health, mentally and physically. I have worked with the university before as a student ambassador on open days, helping prospective students with any questions about accommodation, student loans, scholarships, which degree would be best suited for their interests and any other questions that came my way. This gave me the inspiration to run for this position because I realized that some people are not sure of where they want to go or what they want to do and if they do decide to come to this university I want to make sure they feel prepared and welcomed. This is why I want to set up a support service that allows both first year and current international students, who are in need of support, to contact (via text or call) someone who has a similar background to them if they have any questions or concerns about anything, so they don’t feel like they are alone or unsupported in their efforts to come such a long way from their homes to get an education. I also want to set up weekly or bi-weekly sessions for international students where they can come and hang out and meet new people or just to have a safe space where people can come to if they need any type of support. Thank you for spending the time to read this and I hope you consider me for this amazing position.

THANK YOU
