Hours: Full Time - 35 hours a week Fixed Term 1 year contract

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team in the position of Sales and Events Coordinator. Initially on a fixed term 1 year contract, there is a potential that this could become a permanent role within the team if successful. The post holder will provide support to the Income Generation Manager to maximise income generation opportunities alongside the planning and delivery of large scale fundraising and student engagement events. They will demonstrate an acute understanding of their importance in achieving our Vision and Mission.

The successful candidate will have prior experience of coordinating and administering events, of delivering excellent customer service and will possess excellent communication and organisational skills.  The successful candidate will also have the ability to build lasting partnerships; the ability to maximise every sales lead that is generated; skills in a strong customer or membership focus and demonstrate excellent attention to detail. They will have the ability work on their own initiative as well as being a proactive team member with the ability to prioritise a changing workload. They will have excellent interpersonal skills, a ‘can do’ attitude and an ability to communicate complex information to students, officers, service managers and key University staff. They will believe that every student matters and clearly demonstrate a commitment to our organisational values.

Night Bus Driver

Job Type: Fixed Term contract from September 2018 – May 2019

Hours: 30 hours per week during term time only plus additional hours as necessary, although this is not expected to be excessive.

Overview of position

Solent Students’ Union has a vision where every student will have an excellent student experience at Solent University.

We are a student led, registered charity guided by our values, with a mission to enrich the student experience through opportunities, support, influence and action.

We are looking for a competent, safe driver who is helpful and approachable to run our popular and vital Night Bus service. Previous professional driving experience is desired, but not essential.

The Night Bus service is a free shuttle between Mountbatten Library, Student Accommodation and the Polygon. It runs between 6pm and 12 midnight, Monday to Friday, with an extended service during the welcome fortnight and the potential for some additional weekend shifts across the academic year.

Duties The Night Bus driver will be expected to drive between the aforementioned areas, ensuring the safety of both passengers and the vehicle within the allotted shift times of 6pm to 12 midnight, with some exceptions across the academic year.

Communications Manager

Solent Students’ Union is looking for a professional, passionate and enthusiastic Communications Manager to join our team. This senior management role has responsibility for leading on all communications, marketing, promotions and research in order to fulfil our key strategic priority of driving improved engagement and participation across our diverse services. They will have experience of developing and implementing operational strategy and will have a key role in the development of our new strategic plan.

This is an ideal first management position with a number of developmental and training opportunities.

The successful candidate will be an experienced marketing professional with excellent communication skills; the ability to influence a diverse range of people; a strong customer or membership focus and a track record of embracing innovation in communication. They will have an eye for detail and a record of inspiring, motivating and driving teams to reach challenging targets. They will enjoy working with a close team of professionals who believe that every student matters and be experienced in a variety of methods to research, gather feedback and engage our members to ensure that the organisation reaches every student.

Solent Students' Union is looking for a Student Trustee. The Trustees are ultimately responsible, individually and collectively, for all activity within Solent Students’ Union. The Board of Trustees is responsible for setting the vision and values of the organisation and for ensuring the delivery of organisational purpose. The Trustees ensure the development of, and agree on a long-term strategy and approve and monitor plans to deliver the strategy.
