Job Title:                    Activities Coordinator

Hours:                        Full Time - 35 hours a week

Location:                   Solent Students’ Union – Southampton

Salary:                       Grade 3.1: £17,521

Contract:                    This is a fixed term contract of up to 12 months or until the return of the                                                               substantive post holder. 

Closing Date:            Tuesday 29th August 2017 at midday

Interview Date:          Tuesday 12th September 2017

 

We are looking for a professional, passionate and enthusiastic person to join our Student Involvement team as an Activities Coordinator to cover a period of Maternity Leave for up to 12 months. This role is fundamental to the “Relationships” theme of our strategic plan and has responsibility for supporting students in core Union activities including societies, volunteering and student-led projects.

 

The post holder will provide staff support to the Vice President of Employability and Engagement and must be passionate about the benefits of volunteering and involvement in student societies to our members and demonstrate an acute understanding of their importance in achieving our Vision and Mission.

 

Solent Students’ Union has a vision that “Every student will have an excellent student experience at Solent University” which is underpinned by our mission to enrich the student experience through opportunities, support, influence and action. We are a close team of professionals who believe that every student matters and have great aspirations with increasing success.

 

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills; a strong customer or membership focus and demonstrate excellent attention to detail. They will have the ability work on their own initiative as well as being a proactive team member with the ability to prioritise a changing workload. They will have excellent interpersonal skills, a ‘can do’ attitude and an ability to communicate complex information to students, officers, service managers and key University staff. They will believe that every student matters and clearly demonstrate a commitment to our organisational values.

Solent Students' Union are looking for a Student Trustee. The Trustees are ultimately responsible, individually and collectively, for all activity within Solent Students’ Union. The Board of Trustees is responsible for setting the vision and values of the organisation and for ensuring the delivery of organisational purpose. The Trustees ensure the development of, and agree a long-term strategy and approve and monitor plans to deliver the strategy.
