Night Bus Driver

Job Type: Fixed Term contract from September 2018 – May 2019

Hours: 30 hours per week during term time only plus additional hours as necessary, although this is not expected to be excessive.

Location: Solent Students’ Union – Southampton

Salary: Grade 2.1 – £8,095.45 per annum (0.55 FTE)

Overview of position

Solent Students’ Union has a vision where every student will have an excellent student experience at Solent University.

We are a student led, registered charity guided by our values, with a mission to enrich the student experience through opportunities, support, influence and action.

We are looking for a competent, safe driver who is helpful and approachable to run our popular and vital Night Bus service. Previous professional driving experience is desired, but not essential.

The Night Bus service is a free shuttle between Mountbatten Library, Student Accommodation and the Polygon. It runs between 6pm and 12 midnight, Monday to Friday, with an extended service during the welcome fortnight and the potential for some additional weekend shifts across the academic year.

Duties The Night Bus driver will be expected to drive between the aforementioned areas, ensuring the safety of both passengers and the vehicle within the allotted shift times of 6pm to 12 midnight, with some exceptions across the academic year.

Solent Students' Union is looking for a Student Trustee. The Trustees are ultimately responsible, individually and collectively, for all activity within Solent Students’ Union. The Board of Trustees is responsible for setting the vision and values of the organisation and for ensuring the delivery of organisational purpose. The Trustees ensure the development of, and agree on a long-term strategy and approve and monitor plans to deliver the strategy.
