This year's STAR Awards is the largest ever! Over 800 nominations were submitted by students to recognise those members of staff and Course Reps at Solent University for their outstanding contributions to the student experience. These have now been shortlisted by the Students' Union into the 10 award categories below. 

 

 

Outstanding Teaching

This award will be given to an exceptional member of academic staff that has demonstrated a real passion for delivering motivational, challenging and exciting content.

Excellent Academic Support

This award will be given to a member of staff who has provided excellent academic guidance to students, including support with essay writing, research and other academic-related skills.

Best Academic Supervisor

This award will be given to a member of academic staff that has gone beyond their normal duties to support a student through a dissertation or major project. They should help the student plan and manage their time effectively whilst offering guidance and feedback whenever necessary.

Most Innovative Teaching

This award will be given to a member of academic staff that offered a range of teaching methods and resources, proactively ensuring that classes are both engaging and a refreshing approach to learning.

This award will be given to a member of staff that has demonstrated a commitment to engaging with course reps, encouraging students to raise concerns and providing updates on issues raised.

This award will be given to a member of staff that has helped students develop personal and transferable skills, whilst assisting students in getting work experience placements and links to the professional industry.

The shortlisted people and the students who nominated them are invited to celebrate at an exclusive awards ceremony and buffet lunch on 9th May in the Hawthorn Sweet of the Spark at 12pm. Additional spaces will be released soon.
