We’ve made it! It’s almost the end of term – for some it is already! Some students have started their travels back home, others may still be around working on deadlines and finishing work off for a while.

I wanted to say well done to you all! The first term always feels the longest, with cold days and dark evenings and trying to settle back in and remembering how to study… but you’ve got through it! Now for the next hurdle – getting through the holidays!

Going back home over the holiday can be stressful for some, having not seen or spent time with family and friends for a while – especially not under the same roof! I remember having the biggest argument with my mum – who is literally my best friend – after being back for Christmas for a few days. We just weren’t used to that much of each other. It’s normal and it happens.

This time of year can be really demanding, it’s hard to switch off from university especially when you probably still have deadlines and exams coming up in January but take a bit of time of for yourself – you deserve it! Don’t beat yourself up if you aren’t feeling festive every second, it’s normal – just don’t be afraid to reach out for help if you need it.

Here’s a few of our top tips for having a happy holiday;

  1. Have some time for yourself

  3. Have some quality time with those you haven’t seen for a while
  4. Do things you enjoy
  5. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself
  6. Remember it’s ok not to be ok!
