Give it a Go is a programme of events, run by your Students' Union and your societies, to offer you the chance to try a new skill, learn something different, and, most importantly, have fun!!

What you can try
Give It A Go with Solent SU! All the events below are free so you can try as many as you would like! It is a commitment-free way to try out a society, new hobby or a skill! See the full list of events below and we hope to see you there!

Please note: for some events there are limited spaces and it will be a first come, first serve basis; where alcohol will be served your ID will be required; the events are for Solent University students only; the events above will be free but if you need to buy/rent stuff at the event you will need to pay for this yourself; food will be served at some of the events and students are reminded to be cautious of allergies and dietary requirements. What is Give it a Go?
Give it a Go is a programme of events, run by Solent Students' Union and your societies to offer you the chance to try a new skill, learn something different, and have fun. All of our events are free, so you can try as many as you would like!
When is Give it a Go?
Give it a Go will run from the 27th January to the 7th February 2025!
Can I run a event?
If you are a society, you can run as many events as you would like to, as long as they have all been risk assessed. If you are an individual with an idea that you are passionate about running, get in contact with Solent Student’s Union by emailing student.involvement@solent.ac.uk and we can organise an event together.
Can I join a society?
If you would like to join a society after, or even before, you have attended and event during Give It A Go then click here to view our society page.
Do I need a ticket for Give It A Go?
No! you do not need a ticket, however, we would recommend booking one to secure your place, as some events are limited in terms of spaces. If the event is run externally, e.g. climbing at the Boulder Shack, you will need to sign up. This is due to safety reasons and their policies. If the venue of the event reaches capacity you may be asked to wait for a small time until it is safe for you and others.
Can anyone go to the events?
All Solent University students are encouraged to attend events.
