We joined Students’ Union’s from across the UK to lobby our local MPs to support the campaign, and we were grateful that Alan Whitehead, MP for Southampton Test took the time to meet us and sign the pledge.
Maintenance grants offer fundamental financial support to thousands of students across the UK, and if they change to loans this will create a barrier for students wanting to access higher education.
The NUS want to stop the Government cuts to this core financial support, and we as a Union support them.
Solent University prides itself on recruiting students from widening participation backgrounds, and we believe that every student has a right to access education.
We will continue to work on the campaign and work with our politicians to take action to #CutTheCosts
students face and tackle the growing crisis of student debt.
