ABOUT THE EVENT
Imagine celebrating your 2019 Graduation with a sunset boat experience with your friends and family hosted by your Students' Union.
Date: Friday 12th July
Time: Drinks Reception at the Marina for 6:30pm, the Princess Caroline will then depart at 7:30pm. Approximate finish time will be about 10pm
Venue: Princess Caroline, Town Quay, Southampton
This year your Students' Union is bringing you a new experience to celebrate your Graduation. A black tie boat experience out on the Solent in the very popular, Princess Caroline.
You will be greeted at the Marina with a drinks reception before boarding the boat to experience an evening on the Solent. There will be a DJ on board as well as canapes and a great value bar to help you celebrate the end of your journey at University. As you dance and celebrate the night away, there will be plenty of opportunities for photos (it's perfect for the 'gram) with our SU Staff photographer before you get to witness the sunset out at sea.
This event is sure to be popular with our students and there is only a limited capacity, so make sure you secure your tickets ASAP. It is not an event you want to miss out on!
Our Ticket Purchase Policy and Ticket Refund Policy can be found here.
Please note that there are some accessibility restrictions at this event. You can find out more about them in the FAQ section.
We've worked with the University to secure some of the University accommodation for the week, that Students and their Guests can book at a great price.
You can book accommodation for one or two nights at our David Moxon Halls of Residence on a bed only basis (so no use of the kitchen/living facilities but you do have your own en suite).

1. I'm not a final year/graduating student. Can I still attend?
Yes, of course. Although the event(s) is predominately aimed at graduating students. Any student is welcome to attend with the purchase of a valid ticket.
2. Are there any accessibility issues?
If you have a carer, we can offer your carer a free ticket to attend the Graduation Celebration with you.
Unfortunately, due to the size of the corridors and access on to the boat, the event is not suitable for anyone using an electric or non-foldable wheelchair. The event team spent a long time discussing whether the event should go ahead with these restrictions in place (as we want our events to be as inclusive as possible). However, financial constraints meant there wasn't an alternative that was still cost-effective for our students. This decision was not taken lightly and we have teamed up with Oceana to offer a VIP experience at the Moving Out Party in May for anyone that isn't able to attend the Graduation boat experiences due to accessibility. Please contact email@example.com for more information regarding this.
4. Can my graduation guests attend the boat party with me?
Yes, although there is a limit of 4 guests per student.
5. What's the dress code?
This is a black tie event. Formal attire is expected.
We have secured a tux hire deal for our students with Youngs Suit Hire. You can see the deals and discount codes to use below.
6. Is there food at the event(s)?
There is no sit-down meal however, there will be canopes on the boat.
7. What should I bring with me?
Please make sure you bring with you your ticket confirmation, this will be exchanged for a physical keepsake ticket at the Marina. Please also ensure that you bring with you cash for the bar on board the boat if you so wish to purchase drinks.
8. Will there be a professional photographer?
We will have a member of Union Staff on board each evening to take photos, these will be shared on our Social Media Channels shortly after each event. If you have any issues with your photo being taken, please just make a staff member aware at the event.
9. What if I get seasick?
If you know you are prone to seasickness, we advise you take the appropriate anti-sickness medication before boarding the boat on the advice of a doctor/pharmacist. If you do begin to feel seasick at the event, please make a member of staff aware, who will be able to assist.
10. What happens if the weather is really bad and it affects the boat being able to go out on the Solent?
In this situation, the event will still go ahead but with the boat moored at the Marina. However, due to the time of year of the event(s), we are very doubtful that this will even be the case.
11. I'm a Masters student who finished my studies in September 2018 but am graduating this year, so I can't log in to buy tickets. Can I still attend and if so how do I buy a ticket?
If this is the case, please email firstname.lastname@example.org explaining this and we can arrange a way in which you can purchase a ticket.
