Places of Worship

Southampton is home to people of many different cultures, races and religion, and the city has a wide selection of places to worship, including (but not limited to):
 

  • Vedic Society Hindu Temple

    • The Temple has been located within a mile of the main campus at East Park Terrace. It has been serving the Hindu community of Southampton for over 25 years.
       

  • Thekchen Kadampa Buddhist Centre
     
    • The centre provides a peaceful environment for anyone who wishes to learn more about modern Buddhism and meditation. It is located under 2miles from the University.

       
  • Southampton Hebrew Congregation
     
    • The Congregation is supported by community leaders all over South Hampshire. Services are not held every Shabbat; you need to call them to know the schedule. It is located 1.5 miles from the University. 

 

  • Islamic Community 

    • Southampton is home to a community of over 10,000 Islamic people, many of them whom worship in mosques near the city:

      • Bashir Ahmed Masjid 

      • Masjid Ar Rahmah 

      • Shahjalal Mosque 

      • Southampton Medina Mosque 
         

  • Christianity 

    • Many of the churches listed below hold special student events and services, so meeting new people would be easy.

      • The First Chruch of Christ, Scientist

  • Sikhism

    • Southampton is home to one of the largest and most vibrant Sikh communities in the UK. The Annual Vaisakhi parade attracts thousands of people to the city, and countless local residents join in with the celebrations. 

      • Gurudwara Nanaksar 

      • Gurudwara Tegh Bhadar Sahib 

      • Singh Sabha Gurudwara
