Improve our generation, focus on education
I am A. Stefania David, and I am running for the position of Head of Student Education. My three years as a student at Solent University, and one year as International Students Officer, plus my Erasmus experience at the University of Alicante in Spain have been an exciting journey. During this time, I have also come to recognise and appreciate the many obstacles that can keep students from achieving their full potential and having the best university experience!!
- I will put effort into enriching the student experience through extended knowledge about the opportunities we have at university.
- I will expand the alumni network and offer more direct assistance to current students in providing seminars, internships and more resources for career advancement.
- I intend to collaborate with departments to provide more paying internships and resources for study so that students can follow their academic portfolios and develop their careers.
- I will encourage to make the recordings of all lectures and seminars mandatory.
- I will work on publishing “hidden course costs” I will push to make sure that there is greater transparency about the costs involved in different courses from make-up to money required to field trips or mandatory books.
- I will make sure that all finals years receive the support they need on their dissertation even in special circumstances (like Covid or anything major).
- I pledge to continue my predecessor’s work around the academic representation system in order to assure a smooth and enhanced collaboration between the University and its students and for an undergoing inclusive environment.
- I aim to get the Students’ Union more involved within the academic work by facilitating a collaborative environment where the organisation can be part of the assignments briefing in order to create a proper communication channel.
I will encourage all students and cadets to have a stronger voice in their education as Head of Student Education, and more control in influencing the quality of their learning to make it a more varied education. While engaging with course and departmental leaders to challenge any cuts to courses suggested by the university, I will ensure that students of all levels enjoy the standard of education they were promised.
