Notice of Motion of No Confidence

In adherence to Articles 39 and 39.2 (b) of the Memorandum and Articles of Association of Southampton Solent University Students’ Union, I hereby announce the notice for a motion of no confidence.

 

This notice contains the following information:

 

i) The position for which a motion of no confidence has been called;

 

VP Education, Marko Qiaochu Xie

 

ii) The venue for the motion of no confidence;

 

Student Council

 

iii) The date, time and room of the motion of no confidence;

 

Tuesday 6th December 2016, 13:00 – 15:00, Centre for Student Involvement

 

iv) Details of who is eligible to vote;

 

As per Article 39.2 (b) of the Memorandum and Articles of Association of Southampton Solent University Students’ Union, Student Council members are eligible to vote in this motion.

 

A two-thirds majority must be achieved for the motion to pass.

 

v) Details of who is eligible to attend Student council;

 

As per Bye Law 4.1 of Solent Students’ Union’s Bye Laws:

 

  1. All Sabbatical Officers are expected to attend Student Council, with full speaking rights but no right to vote. If unable to attend, apologies and a written report must be submitted to the Chair.
  2. The Chief Executive may attend, with full speaking rights but no right to vote. Other members of Union Staff, and non-Union members, may attend at the discretion of the Chair of Student Council.
     
  3. Full members of the Union may attend Student Council, with full speaking rights but no individual vote.
     
  4. Associate Members, Reciprocal Members and opted out students may attend Student Council but have no right to speak or vote.
