Southampton Solent Students’ Union is proud to be the first students’ union in the UK to hold a Duke of Edinburgh Award licence.

Hannah Mullarky, 2013/15 VP Engagement and gold participant of the programme, says: “The Duke of Edinburgh Award is a great opportunity for our students to get involved with charitable activities and build their confidence. We aim to have 60 students receiving a DofE award by the DofE 60th Anniversary in 2016”.

This could be your last chance...

The Duke of Edinburgh Award is the pinnacle of volunteering and community achievement in the world.

It is an award scheme which pits young people against their wits in developing new skills, improving themselves in a sport, doing some volunteering and on an expedition.

Over the last few months, Solent Students’ Union worked hard to become an official provider of the award and are now offering our first 60 places to students for FREE! The only thing is, you have to be 25 or younger to take part and these free places will fill up fast.

Levels and sections

You can do your DofE programme at three levels: Bronze, Silver or Gold. The programme is split in four sections (five if you're going for Gold); Volunteering, Physical, Skills, Expedition and for Gold, a Residential.

We do believe that the DofE is an amazing opportunity to enjoy new experiences, challenge yourself and improve your chance of getting a job. Plus, YOU get to choose what you do!
