Questions & Answers
1. How would you help build a community of students at Solent University?
A better community is that one that owns high level of self-esteem and self-worth. In education environment, self-esteem is developed by a feeling that one is getting something out of their investment and education achievements is what makes individual student value themselves. I will make sure that each student has right support and right information and create education forums that students would join to interact with their peers to share their education experience and make it easy for student to find and interact with those pursuing same education subject and interest -that would solidify solent university education community.
2. What types of events for students would you like to see on campus?
1. Company/organisational mile stone -Most student find it hard to find employment when they graduate. I want some events to address this issue in a positive way such as employer-student events where employers would come and key notes of what is like working in an organisation so student can know what to expect upon leaving university and know how to prepare for employment market. 2. Seminars and conferences that would address current issue in education and also in outside world by experts 3. Team Building events-that prepares all students to have ability to work in a team environment to understand their strength, weaknesses and interest
3. What improvements would you push for catering facilities on campus?
I think solent have lots of catering facilities that students don't really need as much as their education -that money should be invested in a free printing and student feedback remain poor - setting a platform where a student can make a feedback of his/her course at any time even anonymously will create learning satisfaction. 24/7 library access , Marking scheme has to improve to reflect the student ability and traditional teaching has to disappear completely and be replaced by flexible learning where student will be able to match their life style with their learning that will require that all course in class are recorded and be uploaded in solent portal for students to access later as if they were in class.
4. How would you make the university and Students’ Union more inclusive?
I would make sure that education is not exclusive but inclusive and open for all regardless race, ethnic or any background and all receive equal education support that they need without being biased or prejudiced.
