Key points:
- Provide opportunity for at home and residency students to meet.
- Create new regular socials throughout the year
- Bring new event ideas for all student interests
Hi, my name is Alessia Perrin and I am running for the position of Events Rep, for the second year running, because I want to create fun and exciting times for Solent students to look forward to in this upcoming uncertain academic year.
I have lots of experience in creating and running events after two years working abroad as a club and holiday rep. Through those roles I also gained great skills and experience in people management, networking and organisation. I feel passionate about the Event Rep role and believe my enthusiasm and previous experience make me an ideal candidate.
If elected, I will look to organise a new series of events aimed at getting more students who have chosen to live at home in Southampton this year, and new students next year, involved with residency students. With the current constraints it has been hard for everyone this year to meet and mix with other university freshers, especially in person, and I think now we are looking forward to a new academic year a new set of events will especially help at home undergraduates meet fellow students and future friends.
My second objective would be to increase social activity by running monthly socials in venues across Southampton. For both new students and those going into second year who feel like they missed out on a true fresher’s experience, I aim to re-create that time for you as best I can across the year and for us all to have a night to look forward to each month.
For students less interested in parties and nights out on the town, I want to make sure I am a reliable point of call for any events programmes you would be interested in. I want to make this year inclusive of everyone and if there are any specific student interests that we can create fun events for, let’s do it!
Thank you for reading my manifesto and feel free to get in contact with me to ask any questions about my ideas by contacting me at 4perra23@solent.ac.uk.
