Every student deserves to be heard
I’m a first year mental health nursing student who understand the unique, and sometimes isolating position mature students can be in.
In the role of Mature Student Officer I plan to make the voices of the non-stereotypical student heard.
I will work with the Carers Officer and Part-Time Study Officer as well as the rest of the Officer team to make a difference at the university. My manifesto points are:
• Create focus groups to listen to student needs
• Use my platform to represent mature students and create change at the university
• Create spaces for mature students to meet, whether that be online or in person
• Start talks with the university about financial support for work experience and internship opportunities for mature students
• Organise with the university a mature student careers fair
• Work with the University to help create a supportive post-covid return to campus life
?Ensure the SU starts to appeal to mature students in their online and social media presence
• Start talks with the SU about adding more limits to the number of promotional posts on social media and promoted emails
