I'm Rich Westlake, I'm a Master’s student and I was a Sabbatical Officer a year ago. I also volunteer to represent post graduate students on Student Council.
I’m running again, and I need your help. I need you to vote for me, and I need you to tell your mates as well. If you vote for me, I’ll make sure your SU keeps doing fun events like Refreshing Farm and the things that makes you realise the SU exists.
Safe Solent. All the board papers so people could approve it, all the meetings to go to. The boring stuff, that was me.
I've also had a year to think about what else I’d do as well, so here's a list of what I'll work on;
• Make the University look after students better. Little ideas like acessible counselling appointments after 5PM. Mental Health is important. Let's just try and make Solent a healthier place in general. Together.
• Work with whoever wins the University catering contract to stop selling The Sun - they’re awful, let's all be part of making sure less people see it every day.
• Drug Harm Reduction Education. Lectures, posters, campaigns. One less drugs related accident is a success.
• Work with facilities to put as much booking online as possible.
• Work with the University to to improve usage of lecture capture, to help you, the students.
• Set up a Warsash Committee that meets regularly, so Cadets’ unique challenges are dealt with. But I’ll also introduce new ways for course reps to feedback to the SU and make sure it's easy to find the help you need, when you need it.
• Cut down the number of surveys and make sure you see more of the results and what's being done about your feedback!
• Weekly updates on what I’m actually doing week to week!
Alpacas are cute, so let's have that and improve Solent together. You’ve just got to vote for me, and I'll work to improve Solent for you.
I’ve got loads more ideas of stuff that will improve you being at Solent, and I was the guy who did Safe Solent, so you know I’m capable.
So if you think you'd like that, vote for me and get your mates to go on solentsu.co.uk when they’ve got a spare five minutes, and vote for me too. Spread the message.
