Park Safety Warning

Last night a student was walking across the parks towards the library and was nearly assaulted as they approached the park entrance. Fortunately the student managed to escape, however Solent Students’ Union take the matter of safety very seriously and would like to remind students not to walk through the parks alone at night as they can be very dangerous. We urge you to walk in a group and avoid any unlit areas during the evening or after a late night out.

The Union runs a FREE Knight Bus service from outside of the Library to the Polgyon/Halls of Residence every weeknight.
On Monday-Thursday the Knight Bus runs half hourly between 6pm-11.30pm with the last bus at 11.45pm. On Friday the Knight Bus runs half hourly between 6pm-7.30pm.

Outside of Knight Bus hours, please phone Aero Taxis on 023 8001 0203 for pickup and a 10% student discount.

Additionally, the Students’ Union has partnered with Student SafetyNet, a free smartphone app which allows you to see where students have been the victims of crime in your neighbourhood and lets you share your experiences of crime with other students. To download, simply search for “Student SafetyNet” on your iPhone or Android.
