The Students’ Union is recruiting for Solent’s Raise and Give Society (RAG) next year. Click on the article to find out more about the roles and activities involved.
We're recruiting our new RAG committee for next year. This is the team of students who will be responsible for the charity fundraising in the Students' Union!
If you apply to be a member of RAG committee, you will have staff support throughout the entire year and training sessions to teach you how to fundraise.
You will be able to put on great events, look after worthy causes and make a positive impact in both our student community and people's lives across the world.
Applications will close by the 30th of June.
Committee
These are the roles we have available:
President
The President is responsible for leading our RAG society. You will sit on Student Council once a month to represent RAG in the Student Union and will be responsible for leading the rest of the committee. You will have a lot of choice in what direction they take RAG in the coming year and will receive support from both a Sabbatical Officer and a Union Staff member to perform the role.
The RAG president will receive a free ticket to attend the NUS RAG conference, a brilliant couple of days in York in late August where they will receive a lot of training and inspiration from student fundraisers across the country.
Vice President
The Vice President is responsible for supporting the President in leading the Society. If the President is absent then you will sit on Student Council in their place. You will have a lot of freedom in selecting what events RAG put on and what charities it raises for.
The RAG Vice President will receive a free ticket to attend the NUS RAG conference, a brilliant couple of days in York in late August where they will receive a lot of training and inspiration from student fundraisers across the country.
Social Secretary
The Social Secretary is responsible for putting on social events for RAG members and recruiting other students to join RAG. You will help make RAG even more fun and ensure that other members have something to look forward to after busy events.
Treasurer
The Treasurer will look after the RAG total and make sure any fundraising gets properly recorded and deposited. You will also look after any items that RAG owns (charity buckets, anything RAG buys to help fundraise). You will work with the President to make sure that RAG spends its resources wisely.
Marketing Officer
The Marketing Officer will be responsible for raising awareness about RAG on campus. You will help the Social Secretary recruit new members and make sure people know about the events RAG puts on. You will be the main person responsible for the RAG social media accounts and its page on the Union website (we provide the tools you need to change it; you don’t need to have any previous website knowledge).
Three open positions
The open positions do not have any predefined role. You will have a vote on anything that happens on RAG committee and may pick up specific tasks as RAG progresses through the year. If you want to fundraise but have no idea where to start then an open position might be for you!
